Sugarbuddies go to Pricks. The Play: A play about diabetes – Saturday 12th October, Bournemouth

A few Sugarbuddies members thought it would be good fun to see Picks. The Play. Pricks is written and performed by Jade Byrne.

She says: “I have been a professional actor for 9 years but a Type 1 Diabetic for almost 29 years. I wanted to create Pricks to raise awareness of Type 1 Diabetes and it’s differences to Type 2 Diabetes. There are lot of misconceptions, misunderstandings and misdiagnosis surrounding Type 1 and Pricks aims to get rid of the “mis” in these terms.”

The play has been described as so: “This urgent, funny new show blends warmly engaging storytelling with poetry and an original soundscape. It tells a surprisingly moving and uplifting story about families and learning to care for each other better. Join me as I learn to cope with the ups and downs of dealing with a lot of pricks.”

One of our members have been in touch with The Shelley Theatre Box Office who advised tickets are still available. Furthermore, Jade commented, “It would be lovely to get your group along and meet you all”.
